Kosovo story

I would like to make a little note about recent happenings on Kosovo. Because I am living in Bosnia I had the chance to feel on my own skin all the wrongdoings and extremely negative affects of the Milosevic’s politics. Instead of trying to resolve at least one of the numerous conflicts that he has started – using the diplomacy and negotiations he is, and his way of seeing politics, although not among the living now, somehow indirectly responsible for the recent turbulences. To anyone interested in researching and deeper insight not only in Kosovo problem but in a whole issue of Former Yugoslavian conflicts I would like to sincerely recommend one great book written by Florence Hartman “Peace and Punishment”. In this great book one could find all the answers and roots of the turbulent conflicts that are still, as the recent happening are showing to us, very much fresh and alive. The recent Kosovo story and the question of International Community and their way of handling the problem becomes once again crucial. Let us all hope for the best. Being aware of the fact that on the recent Serbian elections about 45 % of the voting population has given their votes to ultra nationalist and radical party I hope that the world politicians will find the way to prevent a hypothetical and a very much possible uprising of the some new kind of the Milosevic –clone politicians. That is the issue that focus should be brought into undoubtedly with a rigorous attention. The great French Romanian writer Cioran once said that people of Balkans are mentioning the word – destiny – a way to much often and that they are using it as an excuse not only in trivial everyday situations but also especially when talking abut their position in the world. This shows as a proof of their ineffectiveness in being able to change the thing. Due to the history circumstances people on the Balkans were so hardly ever able to change the way of given circumstances. So basically – instead of making things happen -things were happening to them, and they were not the ones with the abilities of making them. Of course – this is a very literary explanation with lot of exaggeration and amplification – but I find the thoughts of this great writer so interesting and actual now. My point is simple – we should not let bad things happening over and over again, and that is why I am focusing and emphasizing the necessity of the active International Community involvement. We do not want to go back to where we were 10 years before, right?
