Entrecard Experience

image

I haven’t written a post about the Entrecard yet so it is time for me to do so. I have found this remarking service quite by chance and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a worthwhile decision because Entrecard brings approximately about 90-100 readers of visitors for this blog every day. It was amazing to discover this fact because my blog, as some of you are already familiar about it, deals with my very own intimate problems, like with the hospitalization of my son because of his heart condition, and also with the random ramblings about the certain literature and political views and also, about my paintings.

I started this blog mainly for sake of therapeutic reasons - I‘ve found it revealing just to fire out the row sketches of occasional thoughts. It was never meant to be done for the purpose of the gaining high traffic. But as soon as I have noticed a couple of readers and as the feed counts started to dance their way – I have realized what is the thing that most of the bloggers suffers from. It’s about readers. It is really impossible to deny the pleasure that is brought to you with the meaningful responses on your blog.

Also, thanks to the Entrecard I have encountered more than a pile of the terrific blogs which are now subjected to my close scrutiny almost on the daily basics. I wonder would I be ever able to find such a valuable pages if not for this service.

I prefer blogs about writing and reading, about politics or personal issues. But now I am stuck, furthermore, with checking what’s new on the blogs that are out of that niche, the kind of blogs that I would never probably consider as readable if not for the dropping and recognizing the well written and interesting content dealing with whatever kind of subject.

I have read some very funny observations on the other blogs about people who are already addicted to dropping; who are now dropping 300-600 Entrecards as a must done every day quest. I cannot recall the blog now but it made me laugh so much -it was funny to read about the guy who has a feeling that he will die if he does not fulfill the daily task of dropping whatever amount of the cards possible. If he does not make it, he is faced with insomnia and dreaming about the yellow buttons.

Well, I can say that I am not at that stage but I would like to explain how the Entrecard got me. It had made me to care more for this blog. It made me wanting to write more post. Couple of days ago I wanted to post on my blog and I was having a writers block. Than it suddenly occurred to me that I could post about James Joyce. I had written a piece of an essay a long time ago about this great writer and his unique collection of short stories “Dubliners”. I have stolen the collected works volumes of this incomparable writer from one library that was hit by shells during the first days of the aggression on my city started by Serbian forces. That happened a long time ago when I was just a teenager.

One cousin of my whose English skills are much better than mine - corrected this essay for me as much as it was possible and thanks to that I have pressed the publish button.

So what I am trying to say is that Entrecard helped in keeping this blog updated an alive. It helped actually in writing this blog, the very true proof for that is, among all, this post. Isn’t that obvious?

I wonder what is your experience?

Catherine @ Sharp Wordssaid...

Entrecard is a great way to find new blogs and to get new readers for your own - which, as you said, provides a motive for more and better posts!
I read through your James Joyce posts this morning and you've actually made me want to read his work (maybe not Ulysses) - thank you and well done for that! I'll have to see if I can get Dubliners at the library - seeing as I live in Ireland, that shouldn't be too hard. :)

My main concern about Entrecard, as I've blogged about already, is distinguishing between genuine readers and fly-by-night clickers. I have made a few decent connections but now that I've made them there aren't enough people joining the scheme for me. So I have a dozen or so sites that I regularly advertise on and read but the rest I don't have time for – literally.

If you want to keep readers you need to produce something on a regular basis that people will want to read; decide your niche and stick to it. You don't need to post daily but you do need to post regularly and consistently.

I only drop 10-20 times per day and have been getting quite a bit of traffic (around 100 each day). The problem is, most droppers stop by for 1 second and don't actually read anything which is really bad for a blog in the long run. That is caused by these people who do several hundred times per day. I use entrecard sparingly at best because I don't want to be over-analyzed by google and branded a spam blog.

Laurasaid...

I've come here a few times through EntreCard. Just noticed that you do sketches. Claire and I are trying to set up a Doodle Week. There is a post on the EntreCard blog about it. Hope you feel inspired to create something and join in. :)

I like Entrecard but have been card dropping less than I was. Just too much work to try to do 300 or even anything more than 100 a day. It stopped being fun and didn't give me time to actually read anything. Now I'm back to reading blogs and I click the card while I'm there.

Thanks to all for your comments, I have been busy so I did not answer to you in a reasonable time frame.
Catherine I am recommending you to read Joyce, that for sure, I hope that you will enjoy it. It is a great and unique literature.
Jim thanks for your comment. Thanks to the Entrecard I have also found a good sites about writing - your site is maybe the best of all of them. Thanks for dropping by.
Boby I am also to lazy to drop more than 40-59 cards per day, I do not know about that google concern but I hope also that it wouldn't become an issue.
Hi Laura, thanks for the invitation for the Doodle week, I doodle all the time, think is that had been busy about certain personal stuffm but I will try to get back if possible anyhow. Thanks a lot.
